Veterinary technician/assistants
Rainece Weaver is 30 years old and has worked in the veterinary field for 9 years. She has worked here at Mount Berry Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Assistant for 3 years. Prior to employment at MBAH her work began at a local pet store and from there moved to North Broad Animal Clinic and then to Culbreth-Carr- Watson Animal Clinic. She began working in the veterinary field due to her love to care for animals of all kinds. She has lived here in Georgia for 28 years but is originally from Des Moines, Iowa. She has 5 cats, 4 dogs, 3 horses (which are her passion) and a 55 gallon African Cichlid fish aquarium that is one of her favorite hobbies. She has a love for the outdoors, fishing, camping, rafting, horseback riding and barrel racing. She also loves to travel. She has ventured to Cozumel, Mexico/ Belize City, Belize/Roatan, Honduras & Key West, Florida. She has no children (yet), only four legged furry ones! She fully intends to continue her career in the medical field, just not sure if she will stay with the animals or take on “the humans”. She will “hopefully” always reside here in Georgia.
Sam Ward began working in the veterinary field in 2001 as kennel help and started learning the ropes and moving up. Over the past nine years she has worked as kennel help, receptionist, and a vet assistant. Her son was born in 2007 in Carrollton, GA and a year later she decided to move back to Rome to raise him where she grew up. Sam started working for Dr. Todd at Glenwood Vet Clinic in 2008, and says she can’t imagine working anywhere else. “At Mount Berry we’re more than a staff, we’re a family!” Before joining the team of Mount Berry Animal Hospital, Sam worked at Villa Rica Animal Hospital and Oak Mountain Animal Hospital, both in Carroll County.
Rachel Jackson has been working in the animal field for 7 years. She is currently a student at Berry College where she is working on an animal science degree. Prior to working under Dr. Todd and Dr. Collins at Mount Berry Animal Hospital, she worked under Dr. Mac and Dr. Todd at Glenwood Veterinary Clinic. Though she works in a small animal clinic, she most enjoys working with horses. Breaking horses, training horses and giving riding lessons. She has 3 working Australian Cattle Dogs and 3 Horses. She loves taking her horses and dogs on trail rides.
Rebecca Vick has been in the veterinary business for 5 years now and she loves what she does. Rebecca previously worked for Dr. VanMeter at Animal Medical Center of Rome which was a good preliminary experience for her.
Rebecca took a break from the clinic to spend time with her son and she is now back in the veterinary business where she belongs. Rebecca now works for Dr. Todd at Mount Berry Animal Hospital which has been a joy for her. Rebecca is a single mother with a wonderful two year old son. She also has another family member, he is a Labrador retriever named JB. Being around animals seems to make Rebecca’s life happier, that is why she chose to work at a vet clinic when she was as young as 14 years old. Rebecca plans to stay at Mount Berry Animal Hospital for a long time and maybe go to college to further her education in becoming a veterinary technician. Rebecca encourages everyone to find their happy place; hers is with the wonderful people at Mount Berry Animal Hospital.
Olivia Turner was first hired by Dr. Todd in March 2009 at Glenwood Veterinary Clinic when she was still a senior at Armuchee High School. She has now completed her first year of college at Shorter University and has now transferred to Penn Foster College to get her veterinary technician license. Outside of work she enjoys riding horses and spending time with her family and friends. She is also very big in her church. She has one horse, three dogs and two cats. She loves working with animals and plans to do it for a long time.
